About the Artist

Lady Liberty's Victory is a commissioned artwork by Rebecca Gunter.  Rebecca was born in Oakland, California and started drawing at a very young age.  She discovered her raw passion as a girl by drawing sketches of Sonic the Hedgehog.  She went on to study Studio Art at Florida State University.  While at the university, her professors tried to discourage her from drawing things that were her style, often saying her work was too "cartoonish" or too commercial.  Even so, she graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Lady Liberty's Victory presented new challenges for Rebecca.  "The Lady Liberty piece is one I'm very proud of, having never illustrated so many characters with that level of detail all at once." She adds that the job was right up her alley: "I'm also a fan of sexy, gun-toting chicks, so it was an enjoyable experience all around."

Rebecca worked wonders with light, color, and shadow in the work.  "My favorite aspect would definitely be the morning-after-the-battle sunrise color scheme."

Rebecca is currently freelancing for a living, having worked for video game companies such as KarjaSoft and Winterwolves, and hopes to someday work in comics.
